Handling
Storage & handling
Lyophilised peptides are stable, but correct storage preserves their integrity for research. A quick guide.
Before reconstitution
In lyophilised (freeze-dried) form, peptides are stable and tolerant of short periods at room temperature. For anything beyond a few weeks, store vials cool and dark:
- Refrigerated (2–8°C) for short to medium term
- Frozen (−20°C or below) for long-term storage
- Kept away from direct light and moisture
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic or sterile water. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial, never directly onto the powder, and let it dissolve without vigorous shaking. Swirl gently if needed.
After reconstitution
- Refrigerate (2–8°C) immediately after reconstitution
- Use within the timeframe appropriate to your protocol, typically a few weeks
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles, which degrade peptides
